First
Time at Hart Yoga? Here’s what you should know...
Please arrive a few minutes early to meet the teacher, become familiar
with the studio and fill out a brief registration form/waiver.
Where
do I park?
There is ample parking at the rear of the Salmon Falls Artisans
Showroom Building. The entrance to the upper floor is via an enclosed
stairway at the end of the porch, conveniently located by the parking
lot. Come up the stairs, and enter Suite 8, which you will see directly
in front of you. top

Where
should I put my coat and shoes?
Please remove your shoes prior to entering the studio and place
them under the bench and along the wall in the upstairs foyer. You may
hang coats on the coat hooks down the hall in the kitchen area. Feel free
to bring valuables and personal belongings into the studio. top

What
should I wear to class?
Wear clothes that don’t restrict movement. Tights or sweats are
always a good option. Especially in cooler weather, it’s a good idea to
wear layers of clothing that can be taken off or put on as needed. top

Is
there somewhere for me to change my clothes?
Yes, there are two spacious bathrooms located just down the hall.

What
should I bring to class?
Just bring yourself. We have plenty of mats, blankets, blocks,
belts, and bolsters. However, you are welcome to bring your own props
if you choose, and I encourage you to bring your own personal mat. For
fitness and Pilates classes, we also have physio balls and hand weights,
as well as other props that are specific to the classes.

What
if I arrive late to class or need to leave early?
If you arrive late, please be respectful to the teacher and your
fellow students. Enter the studio quietly. If possible, select a space
at the rear of the studio and gather your mat and props in a way that
minimizes distractions.
Likewise, if you must leave class early, please let the instructor know
in advance and exit quietly. top

What
are the check-in procedures?
After you have hung up your coat and removed your shoes, visit
the sign-in table. You'll find a sign-in sheet with spaces for your full
name and the amount you are paying for today's class. Place your payment
in the small box on the table. If you have purchased a 10-class card,
take your orange class card from the small card file, fill in today's
date in one of the spaces provided, and put the card in the payment box.
Gather the props you'll need and find a space that appeals to you. top

How
do I pay for class?
You may pay with cash or a check payable to Hart Yoga, or you
may purchase individual classes and 10-class cards via PayPal.
The teacher will gladly show you the sign-in process. Please visit the
Tuition section
for complete information regarding rates and payment options. top

What
about eating or drinking before class?
It is recommended that you not eat a heavy meal within 3 to 4
hours prior to the start of class. If you need to eat a snack, make it
something light (like a piece of fruit or a small serving of yogurt) an
hour or so before class. Keeping hydrated is a good idea, so drinking
water before and after class is recommended. Most teachers are fine with
students drinking water from a closed container during class, but please
do not bring open containers or glasses into the studio; keep them in
the kitchen.
And, of course, do not consume alcohol before class.
It’s also good to wait an hour after class to eat a full meal. top

Reminders:
- Please
shut off your cell phone prior to class. Ringing phones are
very disruptive to your fellow students, as well as to the teacher.
- Please
avoid wearing fragrances and other scented products to class;
some of your fellow yogis may have chemical sensitivities. Be mindful,
too, of saucha (purity, cleanliness), as personal body odors
can be just as instrusive as commercial scents. And please make sure
your feet are clean, especially important in warm weather when
many people wear sandals.
- If
you have any physical conditions or injuries that may impact
your participation in class, please notify the teacher prior to taking
the class. In most cases the teacher will be able to help you modify
your practice to accommodate these situations.
- Women:
If you are menstruating, the teacher can advise what poses may be
inappropriate for you to attempt during this time in your cycle. If
you are pregnant, please tell the teacher immediately! It is very
important for your health and safety that you modify your practice
under the guidance of your teacher or switch to a prenatal class.
- Remember
to enter and leave the studio quietly out of respect for our
neighbors. Avoid loud conversations in the foyer and hallway outside
the studio. If you arrive before the studio is open, please wait quietly
in the common area. Chairs have been provided for your comfort. You
may also wait in the kitchen area down the hall.
If
you have any other questions, please contact the individual
instructor
of the class you plan to attend or Lindel
Hart.
